Truly A'Deja

Mission Statement

Founded by two girls in college, Truly A’Deja has strived to select only the most stylish pieces to create an online environment that inspires and sets a motion of creativity and confidence in our customers. Garments are sample picked to ensure all items are sold, never wasted, and not just discarded after a few uses. By ensuring excellent quality and promoting versatile styles, Truly A’deja has made it our mission to cater to consumers looking to create a unique wardrobe that gives an aura of boldness, expressiveness, and originality. Truly A’deja was established by fashion forward women you can trust to carry garments that will leave you feeling and looking like your best self.

A Bit About Us

Truly A'deja was my first baby. Before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, I remember sitting in class when my professor asked the lecture hall how many students had their own businesses. The thought had always lingered in my mind. Working for myself, who doesn't want to do that? But how would any of us have the means or knowledge to start and operate their own business, right? Wrong. I was shocked at how many of my freshman peers raised their hands in confirmation with my professor. And after covid hit, and began the resurgence of small business success, I began my own personal journey in the business of fashion.

When I first began my business, I started (I what I thought was) simple. I sourced overseas for sample picking and began modeling pieces with my sister. Sample picking was important because before buying in bulk, it was important to make sure garments were up to quality. Most were not. Shocker, right? After months of buying researching and sample picking, we would launch our first fall collection. Truly A'deja did well on a small scale. Having products on hand is what made us successful in a time when most stores did not. And this momentum lasted for a while up until the fall of 2021. Classes would begin in person again and between the transition of living and life with my sister and I, taking the time to market became increasingly harder. What's more, with my newfound knowledge of fast fashion and its harmful effects on our earth, I decided to put Truly A'deja on pause.

Where are we now?

After taking a look at the amount of inventory we were sitting on, the owners of Truly A'deja decided to shift from the fashion model of outsourcing cheap garments and factory work and bring designs closer to home. Right now, we are in the design process of a new collection of sweatshirts, sweaters, and matching sets. All that will be sourced from other small business owners in Ohio and Georgia. We plan to drop our first collection by the end of 2022 and donate our current inventory to local stores.
